Yes indeed,it was a lovely dinner and here is proof it really happened. Indeed, it is Saturday and I am only getting it posted, but the past two days have been a tad crazy. We had to drive through crazy traffic as there was a baseball game and two soccer games so traffic was really heavy. Arrived at Markie's place at 5:30pm. Mind you we left my apt. at 4pm. Cocktails started off the evening.
So here is Damon sitting on the infamous purple leather chair. He is trying sugar cane vodka for the first time. I did as well. By itself, it tastes like Moonshine, but with a mixer it is quite good.Markie does love to grill and entertain. Here is his back deck with cooking ovens, warming drawers and the big grill/smoker. It is really something to see it all going at the same time, but tonight it was only the left side grill as he made Ribeye steaks for us. Yup, picked up at the sale rack at Safeway. I seriously do not know the last time Markie paid full price for any cut of meat and yet he does have amazing cooking skills.
I present the dinner table groaning with all sorts of wonderful things. The steaks you can see were not small and yet we all finished them. Condiments of all sorts. To the left for the meats and in the basket on the right for the salad. There was both a green salad with fresh tomatoes and also coleslaw. Markie and I love coleslaw and Damon - not so much.
Here is Damon just about to dive into the steak. He and I opted for white wine and he seemed to enjoy it for not being much of a wine drinker. If you look close in the middle of the bill of his hat you can see that indeed it has lights in it that do work, it is a crazy thing, but useful after dark.
Our host and chef du jour - Markie who has a flare for the dramatic even when placing his napkin. To actually get a picture of him not making some sort of face is a rare moment indeed. He enjoyed the red wine and I got a taste of the end of the bottle. Glad I opted for white this evening and yes, we had white with steaks. It is summer and white is allowed.
Finally ate enough of the steak to have room to put coleslaw on the plate. It was a very lovely evening and the weather was perfect, unlike last dinner at his place where a thunder storm mixed things up a bit.
Ok, ok, so numerous people have been writing in and saying they have not seen a lot of pictures of me and Damon. Well, we are usually having too much fun to stop everything and take pictures. But this night we did fix that and when you look at Saturday's posting I have added a few more. So there you go, a perfectly lovely evening down in Southpark.
