Markie comes over for dinner about once a week or two and we do enjoy cocktails while watching NBR & BBC America on PBS from 5-6pm. Next up is NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. Since my return home, we have had all sorts of things for dinner, but there seems to be a particular dish that keeps popping up again and again.
Markie created it one time in trying to figure out what to have for dinner and at the same time dirty as few dishes as possible. It is a bed of asparagus covered with Alfredo sauce and then placing the chicken parts of choice on top. Tonight, we added some homemade Creole seasoning that Jodie made for 4th of July hamburgers. Put it in the oven for an hour at 350 and then 5 minutes under the broiler and you have perfection. Add cole slaw for green veggie (yes, yes, asparagus is green, just work with me here!) and you have a lovely dinner. Markie picked a bottle of Enclos du Petit Chien cheverny blanc 2009 to go with the meal.
After dinner, he cleaned up the dishes and then headed home as he had come over after getting in from his holiday in Berkley. He is headed off camping on Monday at American Ridge, and gosh, I will not be part of that group, camping is just not my thing. But that, my friends, is an entire different posting to be done in the future.
Referencing our conversation...you posted a pic of the chicken/asparagus dish in your June 20th entry but it was still in the casserole dish. :-)
