Bastille Cafe & Bar - Part Deux!

Can you tell I am excited to be back at Bastille? This is a great place located in Ballard and have been wanting to return since that first visit and it did not disappoint. The Sale Parisien (Vodka & cornichon) which proved to be delightfully refreshing one the first visit and yet something I would likely only order here! Our first course of nibblets of the evening was like before Baguette and also Frites w/ Truffle Aioli and regular mayonnaise. Both worked with the frites and what made the bread so delightful is the butter came with sea salt on top.
The soup was chosen by three of us and had changed to a carrot soup with a Roquefort Island. Mick went with the Heirloom Tomato Salad. All this came after we had shared three starters of Chanterelle's with white beans; Grilled octopus with chickpea panisse and preserved lemon and then a special of the day - Liver Pate which was heavenly. The boys were in a food coma, this is Brian and johnny by the way, and yet main course was on the way...Brian opted for Steak Frites au poivre which is roasted flat iron steak with pepper jus and marrow butter.johnny opted for the pasta special that was stuffed with mascapone. Quite rich to be sure.Halibut Cheeks were Mick's choice and it was delightfully presented after a quick grill topped with greens gathereds from their roof top garden.I went for a trio that started with PETITS POIS AU BEURRE aka Peas and pea vines sautéed in butter.Next up was a Croque Monsieur which is street food in Paris and made with Parisian ham, Gruyère, & sauce Mornay on pain de mie. We all just loved, loved, loed it!Finally I remember how much Michael liked the stuffed Quail and so I opted for CAILLE BOURÉE DE BRIOCHE and that is Quail stuffed with brioche and thyme, served with figs & Banyuls vinegar. Voilà a night to remember. Oh and yes we did go for the dessert and that included for Mick Plateau Au Chocolat Peanut butter cup, coconut cream truffle, violette truffle, strawberry pâte de fruit & peanut butter feullitine. While the boys went for Elderflower Crème brûlée while I had to go with the peanut butter crème glacée or ice cream that was served on a bed of peanut butter feullitine. Truly an orgasmic moment! OK, so enough of the photos and hounding us...doesn't the paparazzi ever take a break?!

Go Home already...Good night!
