Seven Years Ago...
Tropical Storm Jeanne has caused severe flooding on the Island of Haiti leaving tens of thousands homeless and over 500 deaths. The 30% city of Port-de-Paix is now covered by water with just a few house tops visible and along the coast and nearby plantations are reported to be under water. And in the city of Gonaives where roads around the city were transformed into fast flowing rivers and 80% of the population is affected. In the years since the various storms, earthquakes, hurricanes, and all various weather related storms seem to be taking up more and more of the TV time. Seriously, is there a day that a news broadcast does not begin with "Breaking News" and poof off we go again. Recently the hurricane going up the east coast and the following flooding pushed aside the tornado's that had hit the mid west not 6 weeks earlier. And here in the northwest, it was just a very nice and mild summer. We were very lucky.
