This has to be one of the most insane things Americans do every year. Started back in the 1980's this annual ritual has gotten out of control. It is no longer just a day, but for several businesses they now call it an "event" that lasts for days. I have never gone out and shopped on Black Friday and I do not plan to do so. And seriously, what would cause a person to get all dressed up and go out shopping starting at 8pm Thanksgiving evening or else at 5am Friday morning?
I was watching the morning news and it was stunning to see that less than 25% of the public actually participates in this insanity. They shared that 76% of the public avoids shopping on this day. Another fun fact is that while the day before Thanksgiving is the 2nd busiest day for pizza delivery during the year, the day after is one of the slowest for them. Go figure. I think maybe Damon and I will do pizza, but he likes that icky pineapple on his!
