Not Quite How You Want Your Morning To Start

Up at the usual time and watching the news and this was happening across the street from our office.  Oh what fun:

From Channel 7 website:  After police officers, SWAT team members and a police helicopter searched Wilburton Hill Park in Bellevue for a suicidal gunman they said fired shots at officers, a man was found dead with a pistol in his hand.

The investigation closed down Main Street between 124th and 118th.  Main has since reopened.
A police chopper hovered over the 105-acre park, and the Botanical Gardens and Kelsey Creek Park were closed to the public as well.

The incident began at 11:30 p.m. Thursday when police began searching the wooded area looking for a suicidal man.  The man’s family told officers he liked to walk around the park.

Police then heard gunshots and at least one shot was fired at officers, but no one was hit.
Residents near Wilburton Park were notified of the police activity through reverse 911 calls.  The search was challenging because the park is large and hilly.  Police have not said how the man died.

As I approached our office I was stopped by the police officer and he allowed me to proceed to our office parking lot.  At the same time I had a reporter and camera guy rushing at me from one of the stations asking "Do you live here?"  I ignored them and drove on.

But wait, there's more!

Just below our office this happened.  Again from Channel 7 website:  Hours after a FedEx semi rolled over on northbound I-405 in Bellevue Friday morning, the northbound exit for Northeast Fourth Street remains closed.

The crash happened just after midnight near downtown Bellevue.   The two right lanes of I-405 near the exit were blocked for about five hours as well as the Northeast Eighth exit.  There was also a two-car collision nearby

The semi destroyed the barrier and packages littered the roadway. The State Patrol said fuel spilled as well.  The driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.  A cause for the crash has not been released but the roadway was very wet at the time of the crash.  The Northeast Eighth exit reopened around 7 a.m.
