Janet's Birthday Weekend - Part 2 - The Storm

We are staying in Seaside and it has been years since either of us has spent anytime here. In our youth we spent a lot of time in Cannon Beach and so we decided to head there for breakfast this morning. But where? We decided to kick off the day by going to a legend of the coast, The Pig 'N Pancake which has multiple locations on the coast.

From their website: Serenity at the beach... Experience long walks on the Oregon's finest beaches, visit the famous Haystack Rock, browse the many unique shops and galleries, and enjoy casual family dining at the Pig ‘N Pancake restaurant. Located in a beautiful wooded setting overlooking downtown Cannon Beach, we are open for breakfast and lunch, offering 35 varieties of breakfast (including homemade pancakes) served anytime. Or try our delicious soups, chowder, halibut fish & chips, and much more. We're waiting to serve you! And they were! The meal kicked off with a shared cinnamon roll and a cup of pasty white chowder. The former even had butter with it just like Dad used to use on his, but I just do not understand!? The chowder was flavorless and needed a lot of help to be sure.
There was oyster crackers available and a shake of salt and pepper helped to be sure. And we got to enjoy it all very leisure-paced as the off season does have a few less people swarming the town. Once we had finished up the appetizers it was time to move on to main course.
While I opted to go for the Dungeness Crab and Tillamook Cheese omelet with hash browns plus a biscuit, which made it all the more enjoyable, my dining partner decided to go for the minced ham and egg scramble. She decided to opt for the pancakes instead of the hash browns. I'm thinking I should have done the same thing, but heck that is water under the bridge.
Once done with breakfast, it was time to shop. Bravo to Janet for getting ahead of the curve and doing some holiday shopping while down here. She did some and even got me some salt covered caramels to take back to the office. All too soon the rains came and boy did they as we floated back to our room at the hotel and settled in for an afternoon of watching fun mindless movies. Janet departed for church as I slept. Michael healed from cutting wood all day and thus did not join us. While we were going to hit the little Cajun, since it was just the two of us we decided to stay in and go there and try dinner our here at the restaurant.
It was a case of enjoying appetisers for dinner as we both opted for Caprese Salad that I found a bit salty, we also got and enjoyed a bowel of chowder and then we shared bruchetta and coconut shrimp. It was a lovely dinner we capped off with a small bite of Red Velvet Cake. The rain did not let up all night.
