Today is Mom's birthday. A major milestone in that she turned 90 this day. It is a bittersweet celebration in that there are many who are coming to acknowledge her and to honor the occasion, yet she will not remember any of it as time goes by. We have spent many hours revisiting why there are cards, flowers and balloons all over the house. She is enjoying the celebration in the moment. I am glad that Janet and I were able to make the trip down and it has been fun at times to share the moments. One thing I could have done without is the heat - UGH! So glad I am based downstairs.
After a wonderful brunch of eggs, ham and cheese we hosted numerous friends and relatives throughout the day. Janet went down and got a fabulous poppy seed and raspberry cake to share with the visitors. Later in the evening we ventured to Casa de Pueblo for a family dinner where Mom got serenaded by the staff and the rest of the restaurant joined in on the fun! They brought the festive hat and gave her a creme caramel for dessert. It has been a full and fun day. Happy 90th Mom!
